Two Week Update

A short EveryLibrary update for our fans and followers.  As of today:

Why Can’t They Just Do It?

Over the past few days I've been asked "Why can't ALA or OCLC or ULC just make a PAC for libraries?"

Circulating Ideas – the Interview Podcast

It was a pleasure to be interview by Steve Thomas for the Circulating Ideas podcast. We had a great discussion about the goals for EveryLibrary, how it relates to the broader library advocacy ecosystem, and why it is important to get political about libraries.

Thought into Action – Why I Gave to EveryLibrary

When I was President of the California Library Association (and in the few years leading up to that gig), one of the things that I learned from attending library legislative days both in Sacramento and Washington, DC was that until libraries could bring money to the table, we'd continue to be a nice, nostalgic, heart-warming, greater good and woefully underfunded service for most, if not all politicians.

Out in the World

It is an extra-ordinary day when something like EveryLibrary appears in the world.

Fundraising for Political Action

As I've been planning the launch of EveryLibrary I talked with a number of thinkers, connectors, and do-ers in the library community.  The feedback has been very positive and the advice has been excellent.

EveryLibrary is a Tactic

EveryLibrary is just a tactic in the wider world of library advocacy strategy.  And I am OK with that.

What is a 501c4?

EveryLibrary is fundraising to become a registered 501(c)4 social welfare organization.  Just what does that mean?  And what can c4 organizations 'do' exactly?

Any library initiative anywhere should matter to every library everywhere

I admire the Freedom to Read Foundation a great deal.
