Idaho HB314 Veto Sustained

The Idaho House failed to overturn Gov. Brad Little's veto of HB314, the so-called "Children's School and Library Protection Act" of 2023. As the Governor noted in his veto message, the bill would have created a "bounty system" incentivizing people with $2,500 rewards to make allegations and challenges against books in libraries.

Sugar Grove Public Library Passes Operating Referendum with 67% of the Vote!

Statement on Internet Archive Ruling

The Internet Archive suffered a setback in its ongoing work to provide free access to knowledge to people around the world. The nonprofit library lost a lawsuit brought against it by several major publishing companies over the practice of "controlled digital lending" (CDL) and the National Emergency Library it ran during the depths of the COVID shutdowns in mid-2020.
