EveryLibrary 2023 Impact Report: Answering Unprecedented Challenges for Libraries and Librarians

In 2023, EveryLibrary continued to uphold our decade long commitment to libraries and librarians. Since its inception in 2012, EveryLibrary has been dedicated to securing better funding and policies for libraries, with notable achievements such as the launch of the Save School Librarians initiative in 2017. This year, EveryLibrary took bold steps to address the ongoing book ban crisis and solidify its position as a leader in library advocacy.

The Top Five Must-Read Stories about Librarians from 2023

Most articles and publications from library organizations are designed to speak to librarians. While there is value in librarians talking to each other, our Medium articles are designed to do something that no one else in libraries is doing: we are talking to Americans about libraries. Our donors have helped us to do that -- and we allow and encourage libraries across the country to repurpose our content to help build local support by affixing a Creative Commons License to the end of each story we publish. EveryLibrary has published 703 stories on Medium since 2017, with 212 articles published this year alone at a rate of three stories every week.

EveryLibrary Is Proud to Provide Support to the Texas Freedom to Read Project

EveryLibrary works to support communities who are fighting against book bans and censorship by providing a wide range of pro-bono tools, data, funding and training. We previously provided the Florida Freedom To Read Project with a sophisticated website built on the NationBuilder platform. Now, we are excited to provide the same tools to a group of advocates in Texas who are fighting against censorship in school and public libraries across the state. This group is called the Texas Freedom to Read Project and you can visit their website at txftrp.org and sign their petition to get involved. We are also providing them with many of the tools and resources that they need to win! See their press release below for more information.

Oppose the Change to Montana Public Library Standards

Another win against book banners in Marathon County!

The Marathon County Public Library has been under attack for weeks after Supervisor David Baker proposed an Amendment to dismantle the library system. In response to this threat, the Marathon County Public Library Alliance launched a petition on our Fight for the First petition platform, urging supervisors not to defund the library.
