Book Bans Aren't Cute. These Socks Are.

Banned Books Week is October 4 through 10. We're asking you to wear the socks and fund the fight.

There is nothing to celebrate about a book being pulled off a shelf, and the people pulling them do not stop when the week is over.

The bills keep getting filed.

The challenges keep landing on library boards. The work of fighting them goes on all year, and it goes on because of monthly donors like you.

Start a monthly donation, and we'll send you these great socks as a thank you!

So, in preparation for Banned Books Week next week, we are running something for new monthly donors as a thank-you.

Start a monthly gift to EveryLibrary in honor of Banned Books Week and we will send you socks.

Real ones, made by Out of Print, the company behind the book-lover gear you have seen in every good library gift shop.

Four designs to choose from:

• Read Banned Books, with flames, because of course
• Library Card, the old checkout card in yellow
• Books Are Groovy, with Pete the Cat
• The Very Hungry Caterpillar, for the kid who learned to read on it

Give a little more each month and you get two pairs. Give a little more than that and we add a Read Banned Books hat. Every package ships with an EveryLibrary bookmark.

Why a monthly gift?

Because Banned Books Week ends on October 10 and book bans do not. A monthly gift is what lets EveryLibrary fight state book ban bills the day they are filed, show up for school boards and library boards when a challenge lands, and stay in the fight after the news cycle moves on.

Since 2012 we have helped libraries win $3.2 billion at the ballot box and defended more than 300 communities against defunding and book ban campaigns, all of it at no cost to the libraries.

The socks are the part you wear. EveryLibrary is the part that fights.

Start a monthly donation, and we'll send you these great socks as a thank you!

We are launching it today!

Thanks for being in this work with us.
