CREDO Mobile Donations Power EveryLibrary Advocacy

EveryLibrary, the first and only national political action committee for libraries, extends its appreciation to CREDO Mobile for a generous donation supporting ongoing 501(c)(4) advocacy efforts. This contribution will support EveryLibrary’s mission to advocate for libraries, the essential services they provide to communities nationwide, and the rights of all people to access books, film, and other media at their local libraries.

The conventional wisdom is that libraries are a local matter. It was a given that library funding and policies were decided by local voters across hundreds of local zip codes and that the top of the ticket and national politics don’t matter. Last night, as we watched local election results roll in across the country, we still believed that maybe - if given the opportunity - people would support libraries, the First Amendment, and the right to access diverse collections.

EveryLibrary joins PEN America, the Texas Freedom to Read Poject, We Need Diverse Books, the National Coalition Against Censorship, Penguin Random House, and others in calling on the Montgomery County Commission to overturn the harmful reclassification of Colonization and the Wampanoag Story by Linda Coombs from Juvenile Nonfiction to Juvenile Fiction. History should not be censored.
