Zoobean goes beyond core services to support the future of library funding

EveryLibrary, the first national political action committee for libraries, announces a new donation from Zoobean to help build voter support for libraries.

EveryLibrary, the first national political action committee for libraries, announces a new donation from Zoobean to help build voter support for libraries.

Zoobean is a leading provider of innovative and engaging pre-k and k12 digital learning tools for public and school libraries. “Libraries, and the families they serve are at the core of our work,” says Felix Brandon Lloyd, co-founder and CEO of Zoobean. “We believe that communities are stronger when there is a library at its center. EveryLibrary is uniquely focused on helping those libraries have the funding they need to grow and serve.”

“Zoobean is one of the library world’s most innovative start-ups,” says John Chrastka, EveryLibrary’s Executive Director. “Their commitment to supporting our voter advocacy and library election shows how invested they are in their libraries, and a stable future for library funding everywhere.” As a new corporate donor, Zoobean will help EveryLibrary provide pro-bono advising and consulting to library campaigns in 2017, including staff-led Informational Communications Campaigns and effective Yes Committee get out the vote activities.

“We are excited to have Zoobean join EveryLibrary as a new corporate donor,” Chrastka says. “Successful summer reading and early reader programs are key drivers for voter interest in libraries. Their Beanstack Summer Reading Report Card demonstrates how holding kids at grade level over the summer reading gap is a part of their future academic success. We make that case to voters in every campaign we support.” EveryLibrary and Zoobean will co-host a reception for summer reading coordinators and library directors in Atlanta during the ALA Midwinter meeting on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 7:30pm est.

Zoobean, Inc. is obsessed with customer service, saving library staff time, and engaging patrons outside of the library. It's flagship product, Beanstack, is an online software that helps libraries facilitate summer reading, book clubs, and other reading programs. It includes a unique approach to reader's advisory for children's books along with a new service that employs Nancy Pearl's "Four Doorways" to provide teens and adults with personalized recommendations. Zoobean currently has over 300 library partners in the United States and Canada along with serving the Department of Defense's military base libraries around the world.

EveryLibrary is a 501c4 political action committee dedicated to building voter support for libraries. Since 2012, EveryLibrary has provided donor supported pro-bono advising and consulting to 41 library campaigns helping to win over $100 million in stable tax funding. EveryLibrary’s public facing advocacy and activism page action.everylibrary.org has nearly 50,000 members of the public signed up and taking action to support libraries of all kinds.
