Welcoming Our New Board Members
EveryLibrary is proud today to announce that Harmony Faust, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Gale, a Cengage Company, and J. Turner Masland, Access Services Manager at Sonoma State University Library in Sonoma, CA., are joining its Board of Directors.
As a national political action committee for libraries, EveryLibrary's mission is to build voter support for libraries of all types. Driven primarily by the support of donors, EveryLibrary fulfills this mission through activism on behalf of public libraries during local election cycles, campaigns for school librarians under the threat of job loss, and by raising the visibility of libraries across country through public awareness efforts like its One Million Americans for Libraries campaign.
Harmony and Turner join current board members John Chrastka, Erica Findley, Patrick "PC" Sweeney, Brian D. Hart, and Peter Bromberg. EveryLibrary would also like to acknowledge and thank Mel Gooch as she ends her term of board service, having helped EveryLibrary grow as an effective library activist organization. We are grateful that she will continue her support and involvement with us as a member of our Advisory Committee.
“We are thrilled to welcome Harmony and Turner to the Board and look forward to collaborating together on the strategic direction and daily management of EveryLibrary,” said John Chrastka, founder and executive director at EveryLibrary. “The unique perspectives and depth of experience they bring fits perfectly with our current team as we celebrate and reflect on our first five years as an organization and plan for the future.”
Harmony Faust has a passion for helping libraries secure the funding they need to make an educational and economic impact. She brings her expertise as a brand strategist, storyteller and campaign planner to help EveryLibrary raise its own profile as an organization, as well as increase legislator and public awareness around the value of libraries to their communities. Mrs. Faust has worked for Gale for seven years, with 17 total years of experience marketing to and on behalf of public, school and academic libraries, as well as an M.S. in Integrated Marketing Communications from Eastern Michigan University. The EveryLibrary board will hold its annual meeting in Denver, CO. on Friday, February 9, 2018. The board will review EveryLibrary's 2017 Annual Report and will continue to shape its 2018 agenda for library advocacy. Highlights of the 2018 Agenda include plans to support 20 public libraries on Election Days across the country, one-to-one advocacy for school librarians through the SaveSchoolLibrarians.org site, growing its list of Americans who have taken an action for libraries, deepening its support from individual donors and the corporate/vendor community, and publishing both its digital magazine for the public and professional journal, The Political Librarian.
