Welcoming Gwen Camp as EveryLibrary’s New Political Director
EveryLibrary is proud to welcome Gwen Camp to our team as Political Director. Gwen will lead our political strategy portfolio, providing expertise in campaign consulting, coalition building, and public policy issues affecting libraries at the local, state, and federal levels.
In this role, Gwen will provide advice, tools, and consulting support to EveryLibrary and our partners on political initiatives, ballot campaigns, and legislative activity while offering strategic guidance on public policy concerning libraries, archives, and museums. This will include advising and consulting with local, state, and national partners about funding, democracy, civil society, information access, elections, and constitutional rights. She will be the point person to engage with coalition partners, elected officials, stakeholders, and donors to coordinate our public policy objectives and will contribute to our year-round activist leadership development through the National Library Alliance. She continues her service on the EveryLibrary Board.
Gwen’s career reflects a lifelong dedication to public service and political leadership. Growing up in the Ludington and East Cheltenham Libraries in Pennsylvania shaped her love of libraries. She went on to run a crisis and political management firm in Philadelphia and Washington, DC, and has become an expert on federal, state, and local appropriations.
Her public service includes five years in the Obama administration, serving as Chief of Staff for the Pennsylvania Treasury, and roles in the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate, and the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Gwen has also conducted workshops across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia, sharing her expertise in political management and public affairs.
She holds degrees from Rosemont College and Harvard University, with additional certifications from Pepperdine and Harvard.
“Gwen brings unparalleled experience in political strategy, coalition management, and policy development to EveryLibrary," says John Chrastka, Executive Director, EveryLibrary. "Her background in both government and advocacy will be instrumental as we expand our work to protect and advance libraries across the country. We are thrilled to welcome her to the team.”
For 13 years, EveryLibrary has been the only national political action committee dedicated to building voter support for libraries, protecting the freedom to read, and ensuring strong public funding for library services at every level of government. Our mission has always been rooted in defending access, advancing democracy, and empowering communities through libraries. Gwen’s experience and leadership align perfectly with these values, and her expertise in political strategy and public policy will help EveryLibrary continue to deliver on our mission and expand our impact for libraries, librarians, and the communities they serve.
