We are very excited to welcome two new EveryLibrary interns who will help us build voter support for libraries this year.

We are very excited to welcome two new EveryLibrary interns who will help us build voter support for libraries this year.

Please join us in welcoming Allison Randall Gatt, who comes to us in her last semester of studies at San Jose State University, and Taylor Brooks, a new librarian and former campaign organizer for several progressive causes and candidates. Allison will be working to support and extend our voter research agenda and will be producing an academic paper from her internship. Taylor will be working on our training guides for library campaigns and will be publishing through our action.every library.org platform. Both bring unique and valuable skills to our work, and we are fortunate to have them join our team.

Taylor Books
Taylor Brooks is a recent graduate from the University of Georgia with a BA in Political Science and International Affairs. After working for progressive organizations and nonprofits, she decided to pursue her passion develop a career in libraries. She is currently working in the Georgia library system and plans to pursue her MLIS in the spring 2017 semester.

Allison Randall Gatt
Allison Randall Gatt is a student at San Jose State University and an intern for the 2017 spring semester. She plans to receive her MLIS in May and pursue a career in youth librarianship, determined to bridge the educational gap by growing life-long learners at an early age. For the past three years, she has been the lead writer for the SJSU iStudent Blog and has published articles in BayNet and Hack Library School. On Instagram and her blog, she is known as the Bohemian Librarian.

It is important to us that we not only support local library communities when they need us before an election. It is also part of our mission to encourage and support the development of the library profession. We are very excited to have this new internship program with the iSchool at San Jose State University that brings Allison to us. We hope to host at least one SJSU intern each semester. Much like our 2014 intern Rachel Korman and 2013 intern Mallory Arents, Taylor's internship is as an early-career independent study. We are lucky to have both join us as we continue to grow as an organization.

You can follow Taylor and Allison on EveryLibrary throughout the semester.
