Watch the Recording From Amanda Jones in Our EveryLibrary Live Event!

In this EveryLibrary Live event, Amanda Jones discusses with John Chrastka her decision to advocate for the right to read in her Louisiana hometown, where she had lived her whole life.

A decision that made her the target of an online hate campaign.

Amanda talks about how her belief in the right to read and her love of libraries have fundamentally shaped her actions.

"My parents raised me to be a citizen, and participate, and stand up," she said. "I was just doing what I was taught."

She talks about how she transitioned from being a target of online hate and misinformation to being an activist and how she chose action over anger.

She also shares what she has learned from her experiences and how what she experienced is part of a broader movement to attack libraries as institutions.
