Victory for IMLS, but its not over… yet!

We are really excited to report that the Omnibus spending budget bill for FY2018 that President Trump just signed did include continued funding for the Institute of Museum and Library Services through September.

We are really excited to report that the Omnibus spending budget bill for FY2018 that President Trump just signed did include continued funding for the Institute of Museum and Library Services through September.

It even included a slight increase over last year. This was only possible because of support from people like you who signed petitions, took the next steps, and made donations.

If you haven't sent an email to Congress to support IMLS, you can do it here!

While this is a victory, we can’t slow down yet.

The current crisis is that IMLS is still proposed to be cut from next year’s budget (page 97). And even worse, Trump has demanded that Congress give him the power of a line-item veto for the next budget cycle. This means that he could veto individual budget items like IMLS even if Congress and the American People overwhelmingly support funding for libraries.

Funding IMLS is critical because it supports projects for Tribal Libraries, Autism resources, services for returning veterans, and so much more… You can read about ten of the amazing projects that IMLS has funded here on our Medium account.

This is why we’re asking you to take action today by sharing our SaveIMLS petition to email Congress on your Facebook Pages and your Twitter Feeds to help us get the word out. We still need people to take action to support federal funding for libraries.

Just $1, $3, or $5 a month
ensures that we can continue fighting for libraries in the United States.

You can also help us put our petition in front of thousands of Americans with a $10-$25 donation today. Every $10 we receive allows us to put our petition in front of 1,000 more Americans. There are a lot of people across the country who are like you. They care about libraries and their communities. Please help us reach more of them today.
