Dr. Shogan Confirmed as Next Archivist of the United States
We wanted to share the exciting news that Dr. Colleen Shogan has been confirmed by the Senate as the next Archivist of the United States. She will lead the National Archives and Records Administration into its next era.
The Council of State Archivists (CoSA) and EveryLibrary endorsed and championed this nomination. Nearly 2,000 Americans sent emails to the Senate to support Dr. Shogan's confirmation. This advocacy played a crucial role in the process.
The National Archives and Records Administration is an invaluable institution in our government, preserving and showcasing our nation's most precious documents and serving as the guardian of our civic memories. It is entrusted by law to maintain open and equal access to government records, safeguarding their integrity for all citizens. Dr. Shogan's appointment as the United States Archivist will ensure this essential responsibility's continued stewardship.
