We're excited to let you know about some of our upcoming events at the Public Library Association and the Computers in Libraries Conferences.

Public Library Association Conference

We have teamed up with Gale, a Cengage company, to ask librarians and library supporters attending the Public Library Association conference, to stop by the Gale booth #712 and shoot a 30-60 second video explaining in your own words how IMLS funding helps your library (or you personally) and the impact it would have on your community if funding was cut. Then we will share that video in social channels and tag your local legislators/Congress members and the president so that they can hear real-life stories of how libraries help communities thrive and why they should continue funding them.

Workshop - Beyond Stories: Engagement, Influence, & Support via Your Website
Come out and join our Political Director, PC Sweeney, for this 3 hour workshop that will revolutionize the way your think about your digital presence and teach you how to use your library's digital footprint to increase support and passively raise more money and resources for your library. In this workshop, Patrick discusses the use of big data, messaging, using digital tools and platforms, and specifically focuses on how to identify, cultivate, and empower supporters in order to encourage real and tangible action to build support for funding libraries and information services. By rethinking your library’s online activities, you can do more than just raise awareness of your library and its services in your community. He shares specific practices you can use on your website to generate feedback, resources, and more. See how you get real financial and political benefits with your library’s online activities.

Silent Auction!  We Need Your Participation
As part of CIL's Games & Gadgets evening on Monday March 30th, where they showcase new tech and makerspace type games and gadgets, CIL is hosting a silent auction using software from Bid Beacon. If you have something to donate, please take a digital picture of it for the app, send it to [email protected], and also bring it with you to the conference for display at the Games & Gadgets evening. Funds raised at this silent auction will go to EveryLibrary, which provides pro-bono political assistance to public, school, and college libraries in order to win bonding, tax, and advisory referendum, ensuring stable funding and access to libraries for generations to come
