Rally And Party for School Libraries in Philadelphia

Join us for these two great events to support school libraries!

We're excited to announce two great events supporting school libraries and in partnership with the Pennsylvania School Library Association. Come out to these events during the American Library Association Conference in Philadelphia and help us support school libraries in Pennsylvania and beyond.

Rally to Restore Philadelphia School Librarians

Join the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association and EveryLibrary at the "Rally to Restore Philadelphia School Librarians" on Friday, January 24, from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. in front of the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) Administration Building, at 440 N. Broad Street in Philadelphia.

PLEASE RSVP FOR THE RALLY HERE

Fewer than a dozen school librarians are currently serving over 200,000 students in Philadelphia public schools. Literacy rate, test scores, and student achievement suffer as a result. With over 340 schools, Philadelphia is the largest city in the country to have so few school librarians working to help students learn, grown, and succeed. We are rallying in front of the district administration building to not just highlight this problem but to call on the school board and administration to put school librarians back to work across the district. Research here in Pennsylvania shows that school librarians make the difference for all kinds of learners. And Philadelphia's students deserve it.

Join us starting at 12:00 noon for our 12:30 pm rally at the School District Administration building in Philadelphia. RSVP now so we can keep you up-to-date on all the speakers and rally activities. Because our students matter this is a 'snow, rain, or shine' event!

Libraries 2020 Launch Party with PSLA

Join EveryLibrary and our co-hosts from PSLA, the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association, for a party celebrating the launch of Libraries 2020, EveryLibrary's new national campaign to build voter support for libraries. We're focusing on school libraries with the launch because every child deserves a school librarian in their lives. We are looking forward to a fantastic Saturday night with folks from across the country at the exciting Howl at the Moon piano bar. Your ticket includes 2 drinks, appetizers, and 3 hours of dueling pianos, laughs, and dancing.

PLEASE GET YOUR TICKETS FOR THE PARTY HERE

Proceeds from the event will be shared by EveryLibrary and PSLA to advance both of our missions: to see more school librarians restored to Philadelphia schools and working all across Pennsylvania.

Your contributions go also go to support 4 critical activities as part of the libraries 2020 campaign that ensure that libraries will be funded well into the future.

  1. Help us make direct contributions to local library campaigns and elections
  2. Allow us to provide pro-bono tools and resources to library campaigns for political initiatives
  3. Support or oppose legislation that impact libraries’ ability to serve their communities
  4. Conduct national voter education about the importance and impact of libraries through television, radio, print, and digital media

Your donations allow us to provide all of this at no cost to the libraries and library organizations that we work with!

Get your tickets early and save money on a dueling piano experience unlike any other. Howl at the Moon is the Dueling Piano Bar that Rocks! Howl's entertainers will be performing live music using everything from baby grands to guitars, drums, and more. Whether you're in the mood for Journey or Lady Gaga - you say it, they'll play it. While the bar is open for librarians from 8 p.m. - 11 a.m., the high energy show goes until 1 a.m.
