Introducing EveryLibrary’s Political Action Platform on NationBuilder

If you’ve been following along the last few weeks, you might have noticed our new action platform for libraries. This platform is built on the NationBuilder infrastructure and we have been testing it out to make sure that it suits all of our needs and can handle the kind of work that we are looking to do to move libraries politically forward.

If you’ve been following along the last few weeks, you might have noticed our new action platform for libraries

This platform is built on the NationBuilder infrastructure and we have been testing it out to make sure that it suits all of our needs and can handle the kind of work that we are looking to do to move libraries politically forward.

NationBuilder is one of the next generation political action platforms that was built out of what was learned in data centric ground campaign of the Obama Campaign and the progressives only NGP/VAN platform. There are political action platforms such as Red Stampede specifically for conservatives as well. After testing a number of platforms we decided to use NationBuilder because it has the high level of functionality we need to win campaigns for libraries, but just as importantly, it is a non-partisan platform. This means that it is open to all causes, political parties, and campaigns that are willing to pay for it. EveryLibrary is dedicated to being a non-partisan organization that fights for libraries on both sides of the aisle.

This new platform is taking the place of a few of the platforms we previously used for some of our core activities like managing events, email campaigns, donors, and volunteers. However, NationBuilder will allow us to do a whole lot more such as host our training guides, create and submit petitions for causes around libraries like the recent SB571 in Michigan, and it will allow us to cut turfs for campaigns and manage canvassing and phonebanking activities for campaigns. Most importantly, it will allow us to have an even greater understanding of the data behind library political campaigns and what it takes to win for libraries. And now, all of this can be done under one fully integrated platform instead of spread out through the 8-10 single use platforms we were using previously. This is truly a high-level political platform and we are excited to introduce it to the library world.
