Long Ridge Action Fund Renews and Extends Support for EveryLibrary, the National Political Action Committee for Libraries
EveryLibrary, the national political action committee for libraries, today announced that the Long Ridge Action Fund has renewed its 501(c)(4) support and extended it over two years for the organization’s work to defend libraries, librarians, and the rights of readers across the United States.
Through this commitment, Long Ridge Action Fund continues its investment in advocacy efforts that protect equitable access to information and strengthen democratic institutions at the local, state, and national levels.
“Through our philanthropy, we contribute to a more equitable society where individuals and communities have access to the resources needed to thrive. We do this by investing in organizations and efforts that strengthen core democratic institutions and ensure justice, dignity, and a voice for all people,” said Danielle Smith, Director of Operations and Grants at Long Ridge Action Fund. “Funding EveryLibrary defends equitable access to information by combating book bans, now increasingly codified in statute and executive action, that threaten intellectual freedom and democratic participation.”
EveryLibrary works in communities nationwide to support library funding measures, defend against censorship efforts, and build the advocacy capacity of local and state stakeholders through initiatives like Fight for the First and the National Library Alliance.
“We are grateful for Long Ridge Action Fund’s continued leadership in the 501(c)(4) funding space,” said John Chrastka, Executive Director of EveryLibrary. “Their support recognizes that libraries are essential civic infrastructure, and that the work we do nationally is ultimately about supporting libraries and librarians who are doing the real work every day in communities of all sizes and types across the country. Long Ridge understands that defending access to information at the local level is foundational to a healthy democracy.”
As executive actions and legislation targeting books, curriculum, and access to information continue to expand, sustained investment in advocacy organizations like EveryLibrary remains critical to ensuring that communities retain the freedom to read and the ability to engage fully in civic life.
