Let's Keep Fighting For Libraries Beyond Banned Books Week!

Here's how we can work together to keep fighting for libraries.

Banned Books Week is over, but the fight for your right to read will continue. We'll continue supporting libraries so they can keep their doors open and continue to serve their communities.

To date, we've directly supported over 100 local campaigns against censorship and many state-wide campaigns.

If your community faces book bans, library closures, defunding initiatives, or library ballot measures, we're here to help!

And it's all pro bono, thanks to our sustaining donors!

It costs less than a cup of coffee to defend the right to read and support libraries in the United States!

Local leaders like you are the only way we win!

Please remember that librarians can't fight for themselves. As government employees, their hands are tied. They need people like you to fight for them.

If your community is threatened with book bans, you can launch a campaign on our FightForTheFirst.org platform. When you do, one of our staff will contact you and provide you with pro-bono consulting, direct and indirect funding, access to our national coalition, training, digital tools, and so much more.

If you need to launch a state-wide initiative, we can provide websites, training, tools, funding, and everything else you need to succeed. We have provided these services to organizations like the Texas Freedom to Read Project and the Florida Freedom to Read Project

We've also supported over 150 library ballot initiatives across the country. This work is critical because 90% of library funding comes from local voters. To date, we've helped libraries secure almost 3 billion dollars in stable funding! In fact, through this work, we can secure over $1,600 in funding for libraries for every dollar we raise!

Your donations power our ability to keep library doors open!

No matter how you're fighting for your library, we have the tools to help you win, and they're all provided to you for free.
