EveryLibrary Launches 2025 Annual Appeal Ahead of Pivotal 2026 Election Cycle for Libraries
As library funding appears on ballots and in legislative fights across the country, EveryLibrary, the first and only national political action committee for libraries, has launched its 2025 Annual Appeal to strengthen advocacy ahead of the 2026 election cycle.
The 2026 election cycle is expected to bring a significant number of local and state ballot measures that will affect library funding, governance, and access. EveryLibrary is mobilizing early to ensure that communities have the necessary political infrastructure, voter education, and rapid-response advocacy to support libraries when it matters most.
Unlike public libraries, which are legally restricted from engaging in political advocacy, EveryLibrary operates directly in the political arena. The organization works year-round to build voter support, counter misinformation, respond to legislative threats, and help library supporters win at the ballot box. Funds raised through the Annual Appeal directly support this work, including campaign readiness, coalition building, and rapid response efforts nationwide.
“With so many library funding and policy decisions expected to come before voters in 2026, preparation cannot wait,” said John Chrastka, Executive Director of EveryLibrary. “The investments we make now determine whether libraries will have the political support they need when funding and access are on the line. Our work is ongoing, and early support makes a real difference.”
The 2025 Annual Appeal also coincides with the close of the calendar year, a critical period for sustaining advocacy capacity. Contributions made during the appeal will be deployed immediately to strengthen EveryLibrary’s national efforts and prepare for the challenges and opportunities ahead.
Supporters and members of the public are encouraged to contribute to the 2025 Annual Appeal and help ensure libraries remain strong, well-funded, and accessible to the communities they serve. To learn more or make a contribution, visit https://www.everylibrary.org/give.
