We are thrilled today to announce that school librarian extraordinaire K.C. Boyd is joining the EveryLibrary Advisory Committee
K.C. has been a strong, passionate advocate and activist for school library issues her entire career. She knows the ins and outs of being a school librarian by serving kids every day at the East Saint Louis School District. A 2015 Library Journal "Movers & Shakers", she is at the forefront advancing the profession in her Doctoral program at Dominican University.
K.C. Boyd is a School Libraries advisor to EveryLibrary. As the Lead Librarian for the East St. Louis School District in East St. Louis, IL., she advocates heavily for school librarians. She is a proponent of street literature for teens and she has given presentations for librarians and teachers at the local, state and national levels. K.C. is a reviewer for the Street Lit. Book Award Medal and serves on the advisory board for Booklist Online. Previously, K.C. held library positions at the elementary, high school and administration levels for Chicago Public Schools, and as an adjunct professor of Library Information Science at Chicago State University and Dominican University. She is currently a is a doctoral candidate at Dominican University’s Library Information Science program.
We've asked her to join our Advisory Committee to add to our ESSA work with school library associations around the country. As we continue to grow our pro-bono supports beyond public libraries, she will be the best kind of Advisor - one who also wants to work on the front lines of solving a problem for libraries! Please join us in thanking and congratulating K.C. on her new role with EveryLibrary. She is on Twitter and Instagram at @Boss_Librarian.
