Bridgerton Author Julia Quinn Named New National Ambassador For EveryLibrary
EveryLibrary and EveryLibrary Institute today announced the appointment of Julia Quinn as their first National Ambassador for 2023-2024.
EveryLibrary and EveryLibrary Institute today announced the appointment of Julia Quinn as their first National Ambassador for 2023-2024. Quinn brings her stature as an award-winning, bestselling author to the fight against censorship.
Quinn, a multiple award winning author, has written over 35 novels, graphic novels, and novellas. Her best-selling Bridgerton novels, along with the critically acclaimed Netflix series and the limited series, Queen Charlotte, have been cultural phenomenons.
Concerned about the growing wave of censorship in America, Quinn is excited to build awareness and support of the vital work that EveryLibrary is doing to support grassroots groups fighting censorship in their local communities, and their role in tracking and opposing anti-access legislation in statehouses across America.
Reflecting on her appointment, Quinn offered, “Our right to read freely is under attack, and I cannot sit on the sidelines. As a kid, I visited the library every week, and as an adult, I plan to advocate for them every day. I am honored to be an Ambassador for EveryLibrary, and I can only echo Walter Cronkite: ‘Whatever the cost of our libraries, the price is cheap compared to that of an ignorant nation.’”
“We are honored and thrilled to be partnering with Julia as she becomes our first National Ambassador”, said John Chrastka, Executive Director of EveryLibrary. “Her experience and success as an American author, and her passion for stories, readers, and libraries, make her the ideal person to speak on behalf of our shared commitment to the nation’s principles of free expression.”
In her role as National Ambassador, Quinn will engage with readers across the country, helping them become more aware of organized efforts to remove books from library shelves, and understanding how EveryLibrary is supporting local and statewide efforts to fight back against the censors. A national tour of libraries is being planned for Fall of 2024.
