One of the reasons we reach out to and respond to organizations outside of the library space is for just that reason.  We’re interested in helping library communities win their funding measures.  We can help do that by our training and consulting, but we can also do it by helping to update the perception of libraries and librarians nationally.  Check out what ITP does.  It is rather effective and libraries should be at their table.
