Take Your Child to the Library Day has launched its library registration page for 2026 at takeyourchildtothelibrary.org. Families can also visit this site to view a map of participating libraries.

An initiative of the Connecticut Library Consortium, now in its 15th year, this annual event offers an excellent opportunity for parents and caregivers to learn more about their local library.

This day is dedicated to encouraging families to visit public libraries. Each year, hundreds of libraries across the United States and Canada take part in this initiative, and participation continues to grow. Registration is free, and libraries can participate in any way they choose. The libraries that join in create programs and activities specifically designed to attract families and promote library visits.

Since 2024, EveryLibrary has served as a national organizational partner for Take Your Child to the Library Day, promoting the importance of libraries for families. Libraries help families build solid foundations in literacy and a love of learning by providing access to books, early literacy storytimes, technology, homework help, online resources, fun, and safe spaces, among other benefits. Through this partnership, we aim to help spread the word about Take Your Child to the Library Day and encourage libraries and families to participate.

In 2026, the event will take place on February 7. To view the list of all 2026 participating libraries, visit takeyourchildtothelibrary.org. Follow Take Your Child to the Library Day 2026 on social media with the tag #takeyourchildtothelibraryday.
