The good people of Pomona, California are facing an important  election this November to restore Measure X, a core parcel tax that funds their library.

In November 2012, Measure X was defeated with 60% of the vote*.  The Pomona Public Library is open today largely through the amazing work of their Friends and Foundation.  But without the basic revenue that comes with Measure X, it is only open 29 hour per week, has no full-time professional staff, and is one crisis away from shuttering its doors.  EveryLibrary is backing the Save Our Pomona Public Library committee (SOPPL) as they campaign to win restoration of Measure X this year.  We have issued a $5,000.00 fundraising "challenge donation" to library supporters in Pomona and are pledging to match every dollar the committee raises for Vote Yes campaigning.  The challenge starts this Saturday, March 22nd, with a St. Patrick's Day fundraiser in town.  If you're in the greater L.A. area and want to meet some of the best library advocates anywhere for green beer, a baked potato bar, and hair-raising discussions of what it is like to live without a fully-funded library, click on over to get your tickets today.

It is only because of your donations to EveryLibrary that this kind of 'matching challenge' is available to SOPPL. Please consider donating to EveryLibrary today to recharge our capacity to help library campaigns all across the country in 2014.

* In California, library parcel taxes need 66.7% to win. It's something that EveryLibrary California is looking forward to working on changing.
