EveryLibrary Fights for Every Library

Most organizations can’t do what EveryLibrary does because they can't spend money to influence elections.  As an independent 501c4 PAC, EveryLibrary can say "Vote Yes for the Library" in any election.

Most organizations can’t do what EveryLibrary does because they can't spend money to influence elections.

As an independent 501c4 PAC, EveryLibrary can say "Vote Yes for the Library" in any election. Almost all professional associations and Friends of the Library groups are 501c3 "charities" and can only spend a very small portion of their money to influence and win elections and they put themselves at risk doing that.  It is a Catch 22 for libraries as well.  As units of government, they cannot spend public money on running a campaign but they need that money to survive and grow to meet the changing needs of their communities.

The Solution

An independent PAC like EveryLibrary stands in that voter-outreach gap because that's what a PAC does, and as a PAC, EveryLibrary will do it exclusively for library issues and measures that increase funding for libraries in local elections across the country.  Without a PAC to fundraise in support of local library campaigns, nothing changes.  In fact, we already have a 1.85 million dollar track record of success.  That’s $370 for every dollar we have spent on elections.

We Don’t Stand Alone

While library advocacy done by our professional organizations and our library staff is a year long labor of love, voter education is about a single, specific event: Election Day.  We only strive to work in complement to the work that these amazing groups do throughout the year in order to help libraries win elections.  If libraries can advocate for themselves for most of the year, we can do it when they can’t.  It is only with this two-pronged approach that we can see a change in the crisis of lack of funding in librarianship.

Just Public Libraries?

In short: NO.  EveryLibrary is about funding libraries across the board.  That includes school libraries, public libraries, academic libraries, and all libraries that have the ability to go to the voters for public support.  As the first and only nationwide PAC built exclusively to support library, we believe that any library ballot initiative anywhere matters to every library everywhere.

What Exactly Does EveryLibrary Do?

EveryLibrary helps win elections through a number of strategic tactics.

  •            Act as a Political Consultancy for local PACs
  •            Providing material support for ballot measures
  •            Providing financial support for election committees
  •            Delivering training to campaign volunteers and staff
