EveryLibrary, the first nationwide political action committee for libraries, today announces our support for the "YES on Measure G" committee as they campaign to win a renewal of Measure G, a Parcel Tax that supports 65% of the Georgetown, CA library's basic funding.

EveryLibrary is pledging a $500 donation while providing technical and campaign consulting support to the committee.  Measure G is a 12-year, $85,000 renewal that will appear on the June 3rd, 2014 ballot.  It requires a 66% supermajority to pass.

"The library in Georgetown is at the center of community life there," says John Chrastka, Executive Director of EveryLibrary. "Renewing Measure G is key to the community having the library hours, collections, programs and services they need and want. EveryLibrary supports the YES on Measure G committee's efforts to talk to voters across the Divide about their great library." EveryLibrary joins the Mountain Democrat, the Divide Chamber of Commerce, and numerous local leaders in urging passage of Measure G.  EveryLibrary has identified Measure G as a "must pass" ballot measure for 2014.  Without a renewal on June 3rd, the library faces a critical shortfall in funding that will negatively impact library operations and the entire El Dorado County library system.

"YES on Measure G" is a citizens' committee dedicated to ensuring that the Georgetown Library receives the funds it needs to serve the community through Measure G. The committee has set up a website at http://www.yesmeasureg.org/ and are organizing though Facebook. EveryLibrary is a politically active organization and is supported by contributions from individuals nationwide who believe that libraries matter in our society.
