EveryLibrary today announces that we are backing the work of Santa Clara County’s “Save Our Libraries 2013” ballot measure committee as they campaign for an August 27th, 2013 library election.

Voters in Santa Clara County are being asked to reauthorize the Santa Clara County Library District’s current funding authority as “Measure A”. EveryLibrary is supporting the ballot committee's work with a campaign donation to conduct social media outreach across the 9 cities and over 425,000 residents served by the library system.  We are also providing other campaign assistance and support.

"The ‘Save our Libraries 2013’ committee is doing amazing work urging voters to vote ‘Yes on A’ this August", says John Chrastka, EveryLibrary's Executive Director. "Taking a message to voters and residents across such a wide area takes resources.  We are happy to help fund the social media component of the campaign.” If passed on August 27th, this funding would continue library programs and services that serve over 100,000 children in pre-k and k-12 settings who rely on the library’s programs each year.

The “Save Our Libraries” committee is locally organized as a ballot measure committee under California law.  You can read more about their work supporting Measure A at http://saveourlibraries2013.org/ and follow their work on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/saveourlibraries2013.

EveryLibrary is a politically active national organization dedicated to supporting local library ballot measures through capacity building, direct funding, and campaign consultancy. More about EveryLibrary can be found at www.everylibrary.org.
