EveryLibrary’s 2025 National Library Week Celebrated Nonfiction, Discovery, and the Power of Libraries
Nonfiction Week 2025 on EveryLibrary Live! drew over 32,000 views and stood as a powerful celebration of truth-telling, lifelong learning, and the vital, transformative role libraries play in our society.
From April 7–11, EveryLibrary Live! brought together a stellar lineup of nonfiction authors, editors, and library advocates for five evenings of inspiring conversations and thought-provoking panels. With topics ranging from history, science, and politics to memoir and cookbooks, this year’s event spotlighted the stories that shape our world, and the libraries that preserve and share them.
Nonfiction Week on EveryLibrary Live 2025! featured ten dynamic live sessions with celebrated authors, including Deborah Jackson Taffa, Bryan Ford, Anna Featherstone, Brandon Shimoda, Andrew Forbes, Leslie Hayashi, Jeff Chu, Anne Byrn, Jack Lohmann, and many more. These conversations illuminated the craft of nonfiction writing and explored how libraries support the pursuit of knowledge, preserve diverse voices, and empower communities with access to information.
Audiences tuned in from across the country to watch live on Facebook and YouTube, while hundreds more engaged with the panels on demand. The enthusiasm and participation reflected the deep value readers place on truth, storytelling, and the institutions that make them accessible.
As part of the week’s momentum, new supporters joined EveryLibrary’s movement to defend and fund libraries. Supporters can still take part by visiting https://www.everylibrary.org/donate and becoming monthly donors. With a gift of just $5/month, donors receive an exclusive National Library Week 2025 sticker and help ensure EveryLibrary can continue its vital advocacy work.
"We are so proud to celebrate the authors who reveal truth through their writing and the libraries that make knowledge accessible to everyone," said John Chrastka, Executive Director of EveryLibrary. "National Library Week 2025 reminded us that facts matter, that stories matter, and that libraries remain a cornerstone of a democratic society."
EveryLibrary extends its heartfelt thanks to our publishing partners—Hachette Book Group, HarperCollins, Penguin Random House, Shambhala, City Lights, Bellevue Literary Press, the American Bar Association, Assembly Press, and the Alliance of Independent Authors—for championing nonfiction authors and for helping to bring these vital voices to library shelves everywhere.
We’re also grateful to our incredible collaborators and co-hosts, including Authors Against Book Bans and the dedicated authors, editors, and illustrators who joined us throughout the week. Your commitment to intellectual freedom and your passion for libraries helped make this celebration a standout success.
