We are Buying Everyone a Drink in PDX

Congratulations again on being named Librarian of the Year for 2022 alongside all of your marvelous colleagues. In celebration, EveryLibrary wants to buy you a drink during PLA in Portland. You earned it and it is the least we can do to say Thank You.

We were honored to hear from Library Journal and Baker & Tayor that EveryLibrary is the recipient of the monetary prize for the 2022 Librarian of the Year Award. It is humbling that the award sponsors identify us as an organization that works to support the people who work in libraries and not only the structure of the institutions. While we are using the award to support our agenda and work, we want to also celebrate all our colleagues in some direct and personal way. That's why we are buying everyone a drink. Well, at least everyone who we can connect in Portland during at PLA 2022 (March 23 - 25). 

If you will be in Portland, OR. on March 23rd, 24th, or 25th please join our executive director John Chrastka and several other members of our board for a beverage. We are hosting coffee and tea drinkers mid-day and buying folks the beer or wine of their choice in the afternoon.

Sports Bar - Wednesday, March 23 from 1pm to 5pm PDT at Spirit of 77, 500 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Portland, OR 97232

Wine Bar - Thursday, March 24 from 1pm to 5pm at BAR Botellón, 606 NE Davis St, Portland, OR 97232 

Dive Bar - Friday, March 25 from 3pm to 8pm (later start) at BSide, 632 E Burnside St, Portland, OR 97214

We have picked spots near the convention center, but you don't need to attend the conference to join us. As a Librarian of the Year for 2022, your business card or email address from any library anywhere is good with us. That all said, while you can hang out for as long as you'd like we're only buying one beverage per person.

Please know that our opportunity to buy you a beverage is sponsored by private donors. We will be using Baker and Taylor's generous donation to help support and advance our agenda this year. We are particularly focused on the dignity of library work, especially in the face of so many politicized book challenges and direct attacks on the integrity of librarians and library workers.

We have all been through so much through COVID. We hope this is a nice way to thank you and honor you as LJ and B&T intended. We hope we can celebrate with you in PDX.
