EveryLibrary Heads to BookCon 2026 to Spotlight Authors and the Libraries That Support Them
EveryLibrary, the national political action committee dedicated to protecting and advancing libraries nationwide, will bring its advocacy directly to readers at BookCon at the Javits Center in New York City on April 18 and 19, 2026. Join us at Booth 656, where we will host giveaways and share ways for you to help support libraries across the country. We are excited to record EveryLibrary Live! live author interviews from the show floor, connecting the excitement around books to the libraries that make access possible for communities across the country.
From the EveryLibrary booth, the team will sit down with participating authors for short, high-energy conversations about their books, their readers, and the essential role libraries play in helping stories reach communities. The interviews will be recorded and shared across EveryLibrary’s digital platforms, extending the event's reach while reinforcing the importance of libraries nationwide.
“BookCon is where the energy around books and reading is happening right now,” said John Chrastka, Executive Director of EveryLibrary. “We want to make sure libraries are part of that conversation. Libraries are where discovery begins for millions of readers, and they remain one of the most powerful ways people access books, ideas, and opportunity.”
EveryLibrary’s presence comes at a time when libraries across the country are facing increased challenges, including funding pressures and growing attempts to restrict access to materials. By engaging directly with authors, publishers, and readers at BookCon, the organization aims to highlight the connection between a thriving book culture and strong public libraries.
BookCon’s return to New York after a seven-year hiatus reflects the growing cultural momentum around reading, fueled by online communities, book clubs, and library programs.
“When readers celebrate books, libraries should be part of that moment,” Chrastka added. “Libraries are essential democratic spaces that support literacy, lifelong learning, and intellectual freedom. Showing up at events like BookCon helps us amplify author voices while reminding people that access for everyone starts at the library.”
Please visit us at Booth 656 on the show floor to meet our staff, grab some cool library swag, and learn how you can help protect libraries, the First Amendment, and our culture of reading.
