Announcing Support for Spokane County, WA and Darby, MT Library Communities

We're proud of the work we’re doing to build voter support for libraries. Following on our success with New Orleans and River East, IL.

Earlier this year, EveryLibrary is putting our efforts behind more than a dozen library communities with Election Days in August, September, and November 2015.  Our next two campaigns are for Spokane County, WA. on August 4th, where the library is on the ballot for over $22 million in construction and upgrade bonds to build the 21st century libraries they need to serve their growing, vibrant community. We are endorsing the Libraries Change Lives committee and their YES for Spokane County Libraries campaign. Following that, we’re supporting the Darby, MT. library community on September 15th in their effort to permanently expand their tax base by about $30,000 dollars, which would increase their funding by a third. We have endorsed the Darby Community Library PAC committee and their voter outreach around town.

In our opinion, there is no difference between a $22 million election and a $30,000 one because both Election Days impact the librarian's ability to provide for their community for a generation. We have invested in both campaigns with direct donations to their Vote YES committees, and are providing the staff, boards, and citizens’ committees with the tactical advising they need to succeed.

Our donors support our work. It is the only thing that makes this possible.  While we continue to grow as an organization by launching VoteLibraries.org and The Political Librarian journal, our day-to-day work is focused on Election Day wins for libraries.
