This week, we are supporting our colleagues from the Alaska Library Association on a public outreach campaign targeting the state House and Senate for funding OWL, the 'Online With Libraries' broadband program.
EveryLibrary is helping them by running a petition - and advertising it in state - to reach residents at this mission-critical time with this funding ask. It's a different model for library advocacy, this list building and sharing. But we know how important it is to have a good list of residents who are identified as library supporters. We know the best way to build this list is before you need it. Since AKLA needs it now, though, we are spending money to help reach Alaskans through social media and ask them to sign. When we're done, AKLA will have a new list of residents who are activated for their libraries to use with other outreach and advocacy. And hopefully a funding win for OWL and the broadband backbone for libraries.
