Today, EveryLibrary joined a broad coalition of library leaders and civil liberties advocates in releasing a public letter to Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett. This letter addresses his recent directives to the state’s Regional Library System, which demand full collection reviews for "age-appropriateness" within 60 days.

Celebrating the Federal Court Ruling Protecting IMLS

Today's decision in Rhode Island v. Trump is an affirmation of the rule of law and a decisive victory for libraries, museums, readers, and the communities they serve. The U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island granted summary judgment to a coalition of 21 plaintiff states, ruling that Executive Order 14238 and the administration's attempts to dismantle the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) were unlawful, unconstitutional, and in direct violation of Congress's clear statutory directives.

EveryLibrary Joins Read Freely Alabama in Opposing New Anti-Trans APLS Code Change

EveryLibrary has joined with Read Freely Alabama, the Alabama Transgender Rights Action Coalition, PEN America, Authors Against Book Bans, and other national organizations to issue a joint statement condemning the Alabama Public Library Service’s newly adopted code change, which restricts youth access to books featuring transgender representation.
