Macon-Bibb Libraries Saved!

We are excited to share that, thanks to your support, the Macon-Bibb Commission decided to fund the Middle Georgia Regional Library by amending last week’s interim budget. Over 800 people signed the petition and sent emails to the local commissioners asking them to restore the funding for the library.

Dozens of people showed up to the rally outside of the Commissioners meeting with signs of support for library funding and chanted we will not be shushed. With signatures and donations from people like you we were able to get to work to support the activists on the ground. We worked closely with a group of concerned citizens to design the petition and then used your contribution to put it in front of tens of thousands of Macon-Bibb County residents through paid ads and media. We were able to work with the local press who ran coverage about the petition in the local morning news show on WGXA. And we were able to alert local activists and supporters to show up at the rally to support the library on the night of commission meeting.

Every dollar we raise helps us earn over $1,600 in stable funding for libraries. That means that a $5 monthly donation ensures almost $100,000 a year for libraries!!

This is the kind of work that we do every single day to support libraries in the United States. In fact, we’ve been able to help libraries earn over 245 million dollars a year in stable funding so they can continue to serve their communities. That means that every $1 we’ve raised, we’ve been able to turn into over $1,600 in stable funding. Please consider starting a monthly donation of just $1, $3, or $5 to help us keep library doors open for Americans like you. We are heartened by the support of Americans like you who care about the educational future of the country by supporting our nation’s libraries. Thank you so much for your support.
