Indie Author of the Year 2021
Please join us on Tuesday, August 31st as we learn who the 2021 "Indie Author of the Year" will be!
EveryLibrary is proud to host the Indie Author Project team as they announce the winner of the 3rd Annual Indie Author of the Year for 2021. From New York to California and Ontario to Louisianna, librarians and library workers across North America have identified new or emerging ebook authors who they've loved to share with their communities. To qualify for the award, authors have had their titles chosen by library judging committees as the best indie-published eBooks in one of 15 regions through the preceding year’s Indie Author Project contests. Today's winner is then chosen by a team of industry experts on the basis of marketability, overall impact, personal brand, and potential for the author to break out.
And now they are sharing the winner with the world!
Please RSVP to join us live on Tuesday, August 31st at 3pm EDT. The event will be broadcast on EveryLibrary's Facebook Live and YouTube Live, so please RSVP now to get a calendar reminder to join us for this exciting event.
Featured Program
Our host and Emcee Emily Gooding of the Indie Author Project will welcome Jacqui Castle, 2020 Indie Author of the Year, along with several library sector and publishing industry guests (to be announced). As Ms. Castle says about her 2020 Award, "Librarians help tear down dividers between traditionally-published titles and authors like me. It’s all about reach.... [The Indie Author Project] made sure the authors felt appreciated. I feel like I have more people in my corner."
Since its beginning, the Indie Author Project has worked across stakeholder groups to understand and measure the impact that library eBook dollars have on local creative communities. Today's program will feature a discussion between Indie Author Project’s Mitchell Davis and EveryLibrary’s John Chrastka of important insights on the economic reach and impact of the project from the Indie Author Project Data Collaboration.
Then we will meet the 2021 Indie Author of the Year!

For indie authors, these contests are a powerful way to elevate their careers and writing goals, all through the library. Along with the accolade of the award and its perks, being recognized by librarians creates credibility and visibility in the growing marketplace of digital content and self-published books.
